Young athletesaren't just small adults.
Treating young athletes requires a different approach.

About Youth
Athlete Clinic
Children and teenagers are constantly growing, developing and adapting. Their bones, muscles, joints and movement patterns are changing, while at the same time they are learning new skills, increasing their training loads and often playing multiple sports.
An injury in a young athlete therefore needs to be understood in the context of their age, stage of development, sport, training demands and overall wellbeing.
At Youth Athlete Clinic, our aim is not simply to get a young person out of pain and back onto the pitch, court or pool as quickly as possible. We want to understand why the problem has developed, help them recover properly and give them the strength, movement and confidence they need to keep developing.
Just as importantly, we want young athletes to develop a positive relationship with exercise and their bodies. Good physiotherapy should help them understand their body, recognise problems early and learn how to look after themselves as they become more independent.
Why early
support matters.
The teenage years can be an exciting time in sport, but they can also be a period when injuries become more common. Growth spurts, changes in training, increased competition and the pressures of performance can all place new demands on a developing body.
Early assessment can help identify problems before they become more significant, while appropriate strength and conditioning can help young athletes build the foundations for long-term performance and physical health.
Whether a young person is competing at a high level or simply loves playing sport with their friends, our goal is the same:
Recover well.Develop well.Perform well.

About Jesse
Jesse
I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2003 and have spent more than two decades working with people across a wide range of ages, sports and levels of performance.
I spent 10 years working within the NHS, gaining broad clinical experience across different settings and patient groups. During this time, I also worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where I developed a strong understanding of working with children and young people and the importance of adapting assessment and treatment to the individual.
I subsequently became a Clinical Lead within a private practice in London, developing extensive experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and managing a wide range of sporting injuries.
Alongside my clinical work, I have worked as a physiotherapist within a Premier League academy, gaining experience of the demands placed on young players developing within an elite sporting environment. This included injury management, rehabilitation, physical development and working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
My sporting experience extends well beyond football. I have worked with athletes involved in rugby, tennis, gymnastics, swimming, cricket and athletics, working with both local and national-level athletes.
This combination of more than 20 years as a physiotherapist, 10 years of NHS experience, paediatric experience at Great Ormond Street Hospital, private practice leadership and elite sporting experience has shaped the way I work today.
I believe young athletes deserve the same high level of care as elite adult performers, but that care needs to be age-appropriate, individualised and focused on long-term development.
For me, success is not just seeing an athlete return from an injury. It is helping them become stronger, more confident and better equipped to enjoy their sport for many years to come.
